Providing Virtual Support to GYN Cancer Survivors

Practical insights for survivorship teams expanding access through virtual support and community partnerships

Expert Insight Session: Providing Virtual Support to GYN Cancer Survivors

In this Expert Insight Session, we explored how virtual care models can expand access to survivorship support for people affected by gynecologic cancers—especially when patients face barriers such as distance, time constraints, limited local resources, and ongoing symptom burden.

Jill Burgdoff (Executive Director, The Sherry Strong Foundation) and Shannon Routh (Founder & Executive Director, Teal Diva) shared real-world insights on what virtual support can look like in practice, what survivors most often need, and how programs can build trust, engagement, and continuity over time. Hosted by Mariana Arnaut (CEO & Co-Founder, The After Cancer), the discussion highlighted practical considerations for clinicians and survivorship teams: identifying appropriate patients for virtual support, coordinating with community organizations, and integrating digital services into survivorship pathways to complement clinical follow-up.
